Bigblock Solutions is proud to announce that we are sponsoring Torquay Surf Life Saving Club, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the local community and fostering the youth through events, competitions, fundraisers, and beach patrols in Torquay Beach, one of the busiest beaches in Victoria.
As a design and digital agency on the Surf Coast, our sponsorship involves providing digital support to the club. We provide hosting for the Torquay SLSC’s website as well as making updates and broader redesigns to improve the sites functionality and become an efficient portal for the community to access and stay up to date with local news and events.
About Torquay SLSC
Established in 1945, Torquay SLSC is one of the oldest clubs in Australia. In addition to beach patrols, they also offer nurturing and engaging programs for the local youth through the nippers program, as well as first aid training, surf boat and lifesaving competitions, and many other educational programs and social activities.
Torquay SLSC is recognised as one of Australia’s premier competition clubs and has won many gold medals at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships over the past 50 years.
Torquay SLSC’s existing clubhouse has served the community well for over 70 years. However, with the club outgrowing the building, it’s becoming a challenge for the old clubhouse to meet the demands of the rapidly expanding club.
On the bright side, more people are becoming community-oriented, but this requires the clubhouse to hold more functions more often. Furthermore, the number of beachgoers also continues to increase. This drove Torquay SLSC to develop plans for a new clubhouse that would facilitate future growth.
The club’s self-sufficient and sustainable redevelopment plan includes an increased patrol area, a first-aid room, among other facilities.
